If your Mercedes or Porsche has the fibre-optic amplifier sound system such as Harman-Kardon or BOSE, then instead of bypassing the amplifier when you change stereo you can keep it! Buy this fibre-optic decoder box and the replacement head unit will work with your amplifier sound system directly.

This adaptor is required in vehicles which have an original Fibre-Optic sound system. This decoder provides high-quality audio and video levels for your in-car entertainment needs. MOST fibre optic interface designed to retain the use of the original fibre optic audio amplifier (Mercedes Audio Gateway or harman/kardon amplifier) in various models to allow the fitting of an aftermarket radio upgrade.

The interface connects at the back of the radio, it takes the phono audio output from the new radio and converts it to a digital signal that works with the original MOST fibre optic amplifier in the car.

To identify if you have an amplified audio system, you can check with the original invoice received when the car was purchased from the factory. Some vehicles will have clear markings on the speaker grills indicating the presence of an upgraded audio system. Or you can call your local dealer with your vehicles chassis number and ask them to check if the vehicle was manufacturer with an amplified audio system.

PLEASE NOTE: For vehicle that had the Mercedes-Benz COMAND APS NTG 2 or COMAND APS NTG 2.5. System only. Another fibre optic adaptor is to be used for models with the COMAND 2.0 or COMAND 2.5. Porsche models are not effected by what stereo is fitted as standard. 

PLEASE NOTE: We may dispatch out our own version, which is a blue box or we may send the Xtrons version, which is a black box. Both items do the same function and ultimately are the same but the difference is the colour of the box.
